About stamp and postmark:

The stamp was an ordinary 5 Pfennig stamp of the Deutsches Reich with an overprint for the German Post in China. These stamps were in use in China since 1905. The postmark is from the German post office in Tianjin (German spelling Tientsin). Unfortunately the date (and the year) is not identifiable; it could be 1908. I suppose that this postcard never reached the receiver in Tongku (not far from Tienjin, at the mouth of the Baihe白河river – old German spelling: Peiho), because at that time the addressed post office put a postmark on. It’s missed here. The other reason could be that the post office did not work anymore, when the postcard was sent there. It was run from 1900 to 1906, the postcard seems to be send 1908. That’s so far about the background about the mailing of this postcard.
